Last month we kicked off ‘Faces Of Progressa’ with our CEO, Ali. We got to find out more about his story and his love for Burrata Salad at Terroni.

This month we are featuring Shatabdi from our People & Culture team! She’s part of the team that has helped grow and support the awesome team and culture we have at Progressa.

So without further adieu, meet Shatabdi!

How would you describe your role at Progressa?

I’m Progressa’s HR Generalist and a part of the awesome ‘People & Culture’ team. I am responsible for the day-to-day management of HR operations by helping administer the organization’s HR policies, procedures and programs. In partnership with all of you, our goal is to create a great company culture and continue to grow our brand in the marketplace. This focus helps us attract great talent and on-board them effectively, which is a big part of my role.

How would your parents describe what you do at Progressa?

I asked my mom to know what they think I do, and she said: “you hire people“. I thought it was cute! 🙂

What makes you feel inspired or like your best self?

Simple acts of kindness….no matter how random or simple it is, it always makes me feel like my best self!

If you could turn back the time and talk to your 18-year old self, what would you tell him/her?

That Life is good…not always, but mostly. When it’s not that great and things don’t go according to plan, it’s because there’s a much bigger plan in the making. That it’ll only get better, and years later it’ll all make sense!

If you could have dinner with any 3 people dead or alive who would it be and why?

Albert Einstein…because I think he’d be a fun guy to talk to. Also, I have some questions about his belief in pantheism, which I particularly find interesting.

Satyajit Ray…because his work has greatly influenced my love for world cinema and I’d be honoured to meet such an exceptionally talented person.

My late father-in-law…because I have heard great things about him and regret not having had the opportunity to meet him.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt and why?

I’d be a doctor….a surgeon to be specific! It’s because I feel awed and intrigued by the art and craft of surgical procedures. What could be a better way to serve, save lives and alleviate suffering? So rewarding!

What’s your go-to order at your favourite restaurant?

Ummm, this is a hard question because I’m a total foodie and have too many favourites. However, for the past year or so my quick to-go order has been salmon poke bowls at Rolltation.

What is something you have failed at?

I have failed so many times! The latest was trying to learn how to ski. haha

However, the important thing is that I have never thought of a failure as the end, I have always tried to embrace failure and success alike.

Thanks Shatabdi! Who would have known you’d love to be a surgeon, that’s awesome 🙂 Be sure to tune into next month’s Faces Of Progressa where will be sitting down with our Execuvtive Assistant, Raisa!
