The community of innovation in British Columbia, and in Canada at large, is experiencing a revelatory moment of growth and exposure. British Columbians are making an impact, and the BC Technology Industry Association is recognizing that contribution for the twenty-third consecutive year in the 2016 Technology Impact Awards.
Better yet, both Progressa and our sister company, Merchant Advance Capital, will be there! Despite not being nominated, we (and many other attendees) will relish the chance to get together with other luminaries in the BC tech community, share stories, make connections and develop a more cohesive vision of the province as a technology leader.
With awards like Team of the Year, Best Emerging Startup, Best Community Engagement and Best Product Innovation, the TIAs will recognize a wide palette of talent and ability. And if you couldn’t make it this year, worry not! We will be reporting from the event and sharing our perspectives as the evening goes on.
Developing community ties will be of great importance to financial technology firms in particular, especially as the public and governmental attitudes toward regulation of the alternative finance industry may shift. We look forward to meeting all TIA participants and letting the BC tech community know how passionate we are about the growth and maturation of startup cultures into thriving, far-reaching business models.
